CELPIP Overview

CELPIP, Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program, is a general English language proficiency test. The CELPIP exam allows test takers to demonstrate their ability to function in English.

Types Of CELPIP Exam

There are two types of CELPIP test.

CELPIP (General LS)

Only available for people residing in Canada and USA.

CELPIP (General)

For people residing in other parts of the world. The CELPIP (General) test measures all English Language skills , including Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. It is fully computer delivered, providing test takers the opportunity to complete all test components in one sitting with no additional appointments, interviews, or test sittings required.

CELPIP Syllabus

Listening :

It has 1 unscored task and 6 scored parts (38 questions). There are 4 conversations and 2 monologues. All audios clips are played once only. All questions are multiple choices, with 4 options and 1 correct answer.

Reading :

The Reading section consists of 4 scored parts (38 questions). For each Reading part, you need to read the texts and answer the questions. All questions are multiple choices, with 4 options and 1 correct answer.

Writing :

It comprises of 2 tasks. Task 1 presents email prompt. In Task 2, students have to respond to a survey questions.

Speaking :

The Speaking section consists of 1 unscored task and 8 scored parts. Each parts has 1 task. The tasks are based on giving advice, talking about a personal experience, describing a scene, making a prediction, comparing and persuading, dealing with a difficult situation, expressing opinion, and descrining an unusual situation.

CELPIP Scoring

CELPIP is graded on a scale of 1 – 12, known as Band Scale.7+ is a good score.

What is the Difference between CAEL and CELPIP?

Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program – General (CELPIP-General) for immigration and the Canadian Academic English Language Test – Computer Edition (CAEL CE) for study . Both are online exams and English proficiency tests.

CELPIP is online exam conducted by PARAGON. So the venue details are available online while registering students can opt out the preferred testing centre. CELPIP is available across Chandigardh, Gurgaon, New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Banglore and Chennai.

Does Edwise assist for registration and payments for the exams?

For CELPIP we are authorised Partner for PARAGON. One can do registration at Edwise by paying cash/ or via debit/credit card.

How many times can I take CELPIP English Test?

You may register for no more than one Test Session within four (4) calendar days

In how many days we can receive the results and scores for CELPIP?

Test takers can access their CELPIP Test scores online through their CELPIP Account in 4-5 calendar days after their test date.

What is the cost of score reporting for CELPIP ?

Can download a PDF copy of your CELPIP Official Score Report from your CELPIP account to submit your scores to an organization (i.e. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada), via post , or can order a hardcopy Official Score Reports for a fee of $20.00 CAD each.

What is the exam registration fee for CELPIP?

For CELPIP, it is Rs 10845

Is Basic English Grammar included in Coaching?

Basic English Grammar will not be included during the training.
